FPGA Based Stepper Motor Control Function Exploiting Run-Time Reconfiguration

Dahm, N.; Huebner, M.; Becker, J.

Abstract:

Automation technology is a field of interest in industry as well as in academic research. This niche of research has an upcoming trend since production costs and flexibility plays a major role for mass production and its optimization. In this paper, one approach for a stepper motor control for the application in automation technology will be outlined. The goal is to reduce the resonances, the step losses and therefore the operation noise of a stepper motor. The approach is targeted to reconfigurable architectures (FPGA) in order to exploit the facilities which are given with this kind of hardware architectures.
