Suprema of chains of symmetric operators

Let $L_s (H)$ denote the real Banach space of all symmetric operators on a complex Hilbert space $H$, ordered by the Loewner ordering. We prove that each chain in $L_s(H)$ which is order bounded above has a supremum.
