Influence of parasites on fitness parameters of the European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus)

Pfäffle, Miriam Pamina

Abstract:

The European hedgehog is protected in the member states of the Council of Europe. For the improvement of conservation of these animals, it is important to investigate factors influencing hedgehogs, including the role of parasites in the morbidity and mortality of hedgehog individuals, i.e. their influence on health and possible survival, as well as for populations. This work is the first to clarify the role of macroparasites for hedgehog individuals as well as for populations.
