Electron Microscopical Investigations of Doped and Undoped Ba_0.5Sr_0.5Co_0.8Fe_0.2O_3-d for Oxygen Separation Membranes

Abstract:
Secondary phases and microstructure of Ba_0.5Sr_0.5Co_0.8Fe_0.2O_3-d (BSCF) were investigated by electron microscopy (TEM, SEM, EDXS, EELS) after annealing for 100 h at 700-1000 °C. Beside the cubic phase a hexagonal and a BaCoO phase were observed at grain boundaries and plate-like regions. A new evaluation method probing the Co-valence state based on EELS is described and was applied to determine the Co-valence in secondary phases. Furthermore CaCuO_2 thin-films were investigated.
