Fast 3D forward modeling of single scattered elastic wave fields for borehole configurations

Veile, Ines

Abstract:

Based on the elastodynamic Born approximation an efficient forward modeling algorithm for the 3D single scattered elastic wave field was developed. The concept for this approach was developed with focus on moving borehole measurements but it is not limited to these configurations. The thesis presents specific features of the numerical implementation and detailed efficiency analysis. Moreover, results of the modeling algorithm for various models are discussed and compared to an analytic solution.
