Search for the Higgs Boson Produced via Vector-Boson Fusion in the Decay Channel H to Tau Tau

Abstract:
An important channel in the search for the Higgs boson at the LHC is the decay into pairs of tau-leptons. After the discovery of the Higgs boson, this channel provides evidence for the direct coupling to fermions. This work is a contribution to the search for this Higgs boson decay with the CMS detector. It exploits in particular the vector-boson fusion production mode and its clear two-jet signature. To this end, jets are calibrated using Z+jet events providing a permil-level precision.
