Measurements in the Forward Phase-Space with the CMS Experiment and their Impact on Physics of Extensive Air Showers

This thesis reports on hadronic interactions in extensive air showers at the highest energies. LHC and air shower data are compared and new methods to improve simulations are provided. Additionally the validity of the simulation is tested by measuring the nuclear cross section at the LHC.
