Precise determination of the electron beam energy with Compton backscattered laser photons at ANKA

Abstract: Energy is one of the most fundamental parameters of the synchrotrons. An innovative energy measurement method based on Compton backscattering with a transverse configuration has been successfully developed to calibrate the entire energy range of ANKA storage ring accurately. The theoretical model, numerical studies, design and implementation of the respective sub-system, as well as the measurement procedure and results are presented in this thesis.
