Studies on the response behaviour of pixel detector prototypes at high collision rates for the CMS experiment

Abstract:
Due to their excellent position resolution, unambiguous hit positions and radiation hardness pixelated silicon particle detectors are currently the best choice of detector type for particle tracking in environments with high track density. In the scope of this work two applications of this technology in the CMS experiment were studied: the Pixel Luminosity Telescope and the CMS Pixel Detector Upgrade.
