The role of nTRIP6 in adult myogenesis

Abstract:
The transcriptional adaptor co-repressor nTRIP6 represses MEF2C activity in proliferating myoblasts by recruiting HDAC5 in order to prevent premature differentiation of myoblasts. Loss of nTRIP6 function in myoblasts leads to premature expression of differentiation markers in combination with an impairment in the fusion process. This was also observed in satellite specific trip6 knockout mice, where the loss of nTRIP6 resulted in smaller muscle fibre size after regeneration in combination increased number of unfused myogenic cells.
