Abstract (englisch):

Extensive market penetration of electric vehicles and stationary storage systems requires use of safe lithium-ion batteries. Thermal runaway of Li-ion cells in a larger battery pack, especially, is the worst case which must be avoided. To get detailed insight into the exothermic reactions triggering thermal runaway, results from accelerating rate calorimetry, thermography and pressure measurements will be presented.
