Optimierung der Workflows für Zweitveröffentlichungen – der „Grüne Weg“ am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT)

Das Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) ist Teil der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft und mit rund 5000 Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern und annähernd 9000 Publikationen pro Jahr eine der forschungsstärksten Einrichtungen in Europa. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeiten im institutionellen Repository KITopen liegt in erster Linie im Bereich des Publikationsmanagements, das eine wichtige Basis für die vielfachen Berichterstattungen der Forschungseinrichtung stellt. Die KIT-Bibliothek baut folgerichtig im Zuge eines am KIT entstehenden modularen Forschungsinformationssystems ihre Services in diesem Bereich permanent weiter aus. ... mehrSeit der Open-Access-Richtlinie der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft von 2016 hat sich das Blatt gewendet, denn jetzt stellt Open Access auch für das KIT eine immer wichtiger werdende Kennzahl dar: Wie viele andere Forschungsorganisationen setzt sich die Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft das Ziel, bis Ende 2025 alle von dieser Policy betroffenen Publikationen Open Access zu stellen. Der Beitrag zeigt, wie die KIT-Bibliothek auf diese veränderte Konstellation reagiert und den Grünen Weg über den Ausbau des Repository KITopen nachhaltig gestärkt hat. Dabei spielen nicht nur technische und workflowspezifische Anforderungen eine Rolle. Den eigentlichen Kern dieses innovativen Ansatzes am KIT spielen in erster Linie Policyentscheidungen der KIT-Bibliothek, die rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen konsequent auslegen und in den Nutzerschnittstellen einheitlich kommunizieren.

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is part of the Helmholtz Association and, with around 5,000 scientists and nearly 9,000 publications a year, is one of the most research-intensive institutions in Europe. The focus of the work in the institutional repository KITopen lies primarily in the area of publication management, which provides an important basis for the multiple reports of the research institution. Today, KITopen is part of a modular research information system and the KIT library is constantly expanding its services in this area. Not only technical and workflow-specific requirements play a role here: The core of this innovative approach at KIT are first and foremost the policy decisions of the KIT Library, which demand to consistently interpret the legal conditions and harmonize their uniform communication throughout the varying user interfaces.
