Gold Nanorods as ultrafast photo-thermal transducers

Abstract:

The suitability of using gold nanorods as photo-thermal transducers was tested by recording the structural
relaxations in nanorods excited by femtosecond laser pulses. The structural changes were probed by picosecond
X-ray pulses. The photo-thermal and photo-acoustic responses are accompanied by irreversible changes in shape.
