AARC Blueprint Architecture 2018: A first look at the community-first approach

Hardt, M. ORCID iD icon; Stevanovic, U.

Abstract:

The AARC Blueprint Architecture (BPA) provides set of interoperable architectural building blocks for software architects and technical decision makers, who are designing and implementing access management solutions for international research collaborations. This new version of the AARC BPA focuses on the cross-AAI interoperability aspects in order to answer the need of research communities requiring access to federated resources offered by different infrastructure providers. This is the so-called “community-first” approach, which introduces the Community AAI that aims at streamlining how researchers can access services using their institutional credentials from the national identity federations in eduGAIN, but also from other sources as allowed by the community, such as social media or other community-managed identity providers. The purpose of this shortened version is to invite feedback specifically on the updated “community-first” approach.
