COSMOS-L Forced Convection boiling in a concentric annular gap - T80G400P2000 - 75% of CHF power

Kaiser, Florian; Gabriel, Stephan

Abstract:

Video of flow boiling under forced convection in an annular gap. It was recorded at different measuring positions at a specific percentage of the heating power required for critical heat flux (CHF). The flow direction is vertical from bottom to top. The CHF occurs as departure from nucleate boiling (DNB). At the end of each video the boundary conditions are described. Deonized water was used as test medium. All videos were taken at a framerate of 3000 fps and the presented video is visualised with 25 fps giving an representative impression of the flow for approx. one second.

The whole series was recorded on the test facility COSMOS-L of the Institute for Thermal Energy Technology and Safety (ITES).
