As the research field of tribology has evolved over the years with new discoveries and application areas, so too has the teaching and learning landscape. Are we being intentional in our efforts to ensure young researchers are being prepared to create an impact in the field? What is the right balance of depth in their selected topical area of research and breadth to adapt knowledge and tools from the broader, perhaps complementary or even fast-growing disciplines?
