If Not For Democracy for What?

In Atelier 1 „Cultural Cooperation and Shrinking Spaces“ at the WIKA-Workshop 2019 Prof. Dr. Annette Zimmer (Professor of German and European Social Policy and Comparative Politics at and Director of the Institute of Political Science, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster) in her presentation „If not for Democracy for What?“ outlines how civil society and its organizations are incorporated into governance arrangements of non-democratic countries addressed, and how non-democratic regimes manage to get and keep these societal organizations under their control.

The WIKA-Workshop 2019 focused on “The Role of Civil Society in Cultural Relations“. It took place on Thursday, 26 September 2019 at ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) in Stuttgart.
