Abstract (englisch):

lnfonnacon is one of the key factors in today’s business world. Information data bases seem
to be the right tool for handling large volumes of information, but this solution is double-
edged. People are able to get information, but then are often overwhelmed and sometimes
confused hy the mass of information they receive. This results in infinna~ion overload.
Search engines present a first step in the effort to find easier ways of locating information,
since they sort information according to algorithms. However, they also often overwhelm pea-
ple with the mass of their results.
The solution presented in this paper provides a method for ahowing users to get a personai-
ized view of information stored on a data base. This method uses features of SAP’s R/3 Infor-
mation Database (I& DB) and a special method of information filtering. The result is an inte-
grated module called the Information Assistant.
