Recent Progress in the Development of Next Generation 3D Battery – Concepts, Process Development, and Up-Scaling (NextGen3DBat)

Pfleging, Wilhelm ORCID iD icon

Abstract:

Laser structuring has a huge impact on performances and operational lifetime of lithium-ion batteries. Optimized cell architectures including current collectors, separators, and electrodes are flanked by material concepts for developing next generation 3D lithium-ion batteries. A NextGen3DBat consortium was established for bundling know how and concepts related to thick film electrode development, ultrafast laser structuring, and machine concepts for upscaling including roll-to-roll processing.
