Abstract (englisch):

The automotive industry is undergoing a transformation in vehicle architecture development as established signal-oriented networks seem to reach their limits. To support a higher degree of flexibility for adaptations during and after the development process, the service-oriented architecture (SOA) paradigm has been introduced and is gaining importance. In this paper, we analyze the pros and cons of the signal-and service-oriented paradigms based on different phases of a development process (V-model), as well as in operation. By using a modular vehicle concept, we evaluate specific criteria through an analysis of an exemplary SOA use case.
