Abstract (englisch):

Background: Short bouts of activity, if performed on a regular basis, can generate great health benefits. However, despite a high degree of awareness regarding health issues, the implementation of such physical activities remains difficult. Objectives: The aim of this study is to empower university employees from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) to engage in independent and regular physical activities during their work breaks. The research question is how far the employees can be motivated to enhance their physical activity level through the intervention Aktivpause-Plus and which motivational-volitional variables can effect this intended aim. Materials and methods: The approach Aktivpause-Plus was developed based on the Motivation-Volition Concept. The randomized controlled trial consisted of three assessments (n = 103) and a follow-up study (n = 64). To compare the two intervention groups (IG1, IG2) the study variables were examined via online surveys.
