Abstract:

Universities have been confronted with drastically changed expectations in the recent past. There is an increased importance of aligning academic activities with the aim to add to sustaina-ble development transformations on the regional level. Such a demand has especially brought university-driven know-ledge and technology transfer activities on the agenda of science policy and likewise public interest. Here, various approaches and formats have emerged in recent years that try to address the integration of various stakeholders along experimental interventions for transformative change (e.g., Urban Living Labs, Real-World Labs, Transition Labs). Addressing existing organizations in the realm of technology and knowledge transfer by fostering organiza-tional adaption and adjustment is rare, though.
Based on insights of a first empirical trail, we propose a methodological process design aimed at developing transformation communities. Our approach tries to go beyond the fixation on meth-ods within the framework of individual, time-limited transfer tasks. The results presented are preliminary and up to discussion.
