Abstract (englisch):

In the last years, two dimensional (2D) van der Waals materials (vdW) materials have attracted many interests due to their fascinating electrical, optical, thermal, magnetic and mechanical properties. Given the 2D nature of these materials, the family of vdW materials is significantly diverse and their electronic features range from metallic to semiconducting and superconducting1. In this contribution I will discuss the crystal growth of Fe3-xGeTe22, Ta2(Ni1-xCox)Se53 and FeSe1-xMx (M = S or Te)4,5 (see Fig 1), by chemical vapor transport (CVT). I further will explain the current experimental status of the measurements and discuss promising future directions for the study of vdW materials.
