Abstract (englisch):

As a central and resource-intensive part of industry, manufacturing plays a key role in achieving sustainability goals. Sensor- and data-supported sustainable manufacturing consists of a large variety of topics. These range from the fundamental data generation and service life extension of legacy machines in brownfield production to increasing resource efficiency in machine components and processes up to enabling circular economy through smart de- and remanufacturing. This chapter provides an overview of these topics and the underlying technologies across all levels of manufacturing which contribute to sensor- and data-supported sustainable manufacturing.
