Abstract (englisch):

Based on the “Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice” published by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) the course lays the foundation for compliant, responsible behaviour during student’s studies. It allows students to get familiar with the structure of the scientific system in Germany and it explains how research misconduct is defined and how science uses self-monitoring to avoid such rule violations. Case studies are used to show potential pitfalls for students when they practice research (e.g. in practical training, courses or theses). Providing practical orientation, students are invited to transfer this knowledge to their own research processes and embrace the rules of scientific work. The DFG recommends the course as a best-practice example for teaching good scientific practice: all teaching and exercise texts are licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0, allowing educators and advisors to incorporate them into their own formats. Upon request, the course can be provided as an ILIAS or Moodle export file to integrate it into ILIAS or Moodle course environments. Contact: info@helpBW.de
