The use of eye tracking in (re)manufacturing – a scoping review

This scoping review aims to give a first overview of the current literature on the use of eye tracking to investigate cognitive concepts in (re)manufacturing and (dis)assembly settings. An extensive literature search of the most relevant 1500 titles and abstracts was carried out, with n = 32 articles being included in answering three research questions. Two main cognitive concepts were identified from the included literature. The most commonly used eye movement parameter in the included literature was found to be the (average) pupil dilation. Limitations and challenges of the current literature were found to be, among others, small sample sizes and a particular group of participants in the studies. The scoping review gives implications on future possible research fields to be discovered and for future research questions to be answered.
