Abstract (englisch):

High field magnetic resonance of nuclear spins is normally carried out at or near the Larmor frequency $\Omega_0$. Here, we report the first observation of nonsecular nuclear spin resonances far off $\Omega_0$. These originate from nonsecular terms of the nuclear spin-spin interaction and provide new means for the control of coupled two level systems. In systems of equivalent nuclear spins, nonsecular resonances were predicted to lead to anomalous, fast relaxation of the nuclear spin polarization. We report experimental results that are in excellent agreement with the predicted behaviour.

This repository pertains to "Nuclear magnetic resonance far off the Larmor frequency - nonsecular resonances in CaF2" (accepted for publication at Phys. Rev. B) and contains:

  • the experimental data (subfolder "topspindata"),
  • jupyter notebooks containing the analysis of the data for the three orientations (240222-FFC_KS2_CaF2_111_Nutations.ipynb,....), and
  • calculations regarding the theoretically expected NSR relaxation (latticeSumsCGS.ipynb,NSR_coeff.ipynb).
To run the notebooks you will need python (we used python 3), some software to run jupyter notebooks and pyNMR as well as spindata packages. Note that we are using storemagic to transfer data between notebooks.
