Abstract (englisch):

This blog post investigates the persistent psychological and humanitarian repercussions of armed conflict by juxtaposing the Biafran War (1967–1970) and the ongoing famine in Gaza. The author draws on the reflections of Nigerian filmmaker Newton Ifeanyi Aduaka, whose personal narrative as a child survivor of the Biafran War resonates with the contemporary suffering in Gaza. Aduaka’s account, enriched by references to the literary legacy of Chinua Achebe, underscores the profound human cost of political disputes escalating into humanitarian catastrophes. The post highlights the interconnectedness of trauma across generations and geographies, emphasizing the failure of global powers to intervene effectively. It critiques the inadequate response of Western governments to the Gaza crisis, arguing that the blockade and military actions disproportionately affect innocent civilians, particularly children. The discussion advocates for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stressing the need for democratic governance and the liberation of Palestinians from oppressive conditions. The analysis contributes to the broader discourse on the ethical responsibilities of nations in preventing humanitarian crises and the role of digital media in preserving and amplifying marginalized voices.
