Abstract:

This work presents the operational performance of the MagLev2-Cobra urban transportation system. Traction and levitation experiments are performed with a single-sided linear induction motor with a long secondary aluminium sheet and solid back-iron. For the levitation, YBCO superconductors refrigerated with Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) inside cryostats running over a magnet rail arranged in Halbach configuration are used. The motor was designed to minimize the attraction force between primary and secondary through repulsive force components. The advantages of the new system are highlighted.
