Understanding adolescent active travel: The role of the neighbourhood environment in rural and urban areas

This work investigates how environmental perceptions and built environment characteristics relate to adolescents’ active travel. It addresses three main questions: (1) which perceived environmental factors influence adolescents’ active travel, (2) how these relationships vary across active travel modes and between urban and rural areas in Germany, and (3) which GIS-based bikeability characteristics are relevant for adolescent cycling across different levels of urbanisation.
