Abstract:

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate requirements for virtual applications of creativity techniques, with the aim of designing a virtual creativity technique based on the TRIZ-Box and initially validating it. Optimizing creativity techniques contributes to the improvement of innovative potential in times of complex market conditions and developments. Therefore, this contribution is linked to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number nine, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.



Theoretical Framework: This research is based on the creativity techniques TRIZ, more specifically, the TRIZ box. This creativity technique used objects from daily life to represent the 40 inventive principles that can be used to solve problems systematically. In this contribution, the process of designing a virtual version of this method is explicated.



Method: To design the virtual version of the TRIZ Box, general requirements for virtual applications are reviewed in literature. A preliminary study is carried out to validate the requirements. Then, an initial version is built in a VR environment. The newly designed method is applied to identify further improvements and learn for future virtualisation of creativity techniques.
