Die Weiterentwicklung des Produktportfolios durch neue Produkte mit hohem Innovationspotenzial ist eine Schlüsselaktivität für Unternehmen, um langfristig erfolgreich zu sein. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll daher Entwickelnde dabei unterstützen, ihr Produktportfolio in einem volatilen Umfeld unter dem Einwirken verschiedener Einflüsse zukunftsrobust weiterzuentwickeln. Ziel der Arbeit ist die Entwicklung einer Systematik zur zukunftsrobusten Weiterentwicklung von Produktportfolios, bestehend aus einem Beschreibungs- und Vorgehensmodell.
Um einen Unterstützungsansatz zu entwickeln, wird zunächst die Weiterentwicklung von Produktportfolios untersucht. ... mehrDurch eine erste Interviewstudie werden Herausforderungen und Handlungsfelder aus Sicht der Unternehmenspraxis identifiziert. Über eine systematische Literaturrecherche wird in den Bereichen der strategischen Produktplanung, des Produktportfoliomanagements sowie der referenzenbasierten Entwicklung nach bestehenden Ansätzen und Herausforderungen aus der Theorie gesucht. Es wird eine Ontologie als sprachliche Basis für die Systematik erarbeitet und der Ablauf der Weiterentwicklung von Produktportfolios in Unternehmen in einer zweiten Interviewstudie tiefer analysiert.
Aufbauend auf der Analyse der Weiterentwicklung von Produktportfolios wird über fünf Studien hinweg ein Beschreibungsmodell auf Grundlage der SGE - Systemgenerationsentwicklung nach ALBERS erarbeitet, um die Modellierung des Produktportfolios zu unterstützen. Das Beschreibungsmodell wird dabei in Live-Labs sowie einer retrospektiven Fallstudie initial validiert. Parallel wird ein initiales Vorgehensmodell aufgebaut, welches auf Erkenntnissen begleitender Validierungsaktivitäten aufbauend erweitert wird. Die Systematik wird in einem Workshopformat im Live-Lab IP - Integrierte Produktentwicklung über zwei Jahrgänge angewandt und weiterentwickelt.
Die Systematik wird zur Evaluation in zwei Fallstudien mit Unternehmen angewandt und im Hinblick auf die Anwendbarkeit, das Unterstützungspotenzial sowie einen zu erwartenden Mehrwert untersucht. In einer ersten Studie wird die Systematik mit unternehmensbezogenen Ergebnissen mit zwei Mitarbeitenden des Unternehmens in einer Interviewstudie evaluiert. In einer zweiten Fallstudie wird die Systematik über einen Zeitraum von sechs Monaten im Unternehmen angewandt. Um den Transfer der Systematik in weitere Unternehmen zu unterstützen, wird ein Transferansatz entwickelt und die Systematik initial in zwei weitere Unternehmen transferiert und angewandt. Die Fallstudien zeigen die Anwendbarkeit der Systematik im Unternehmenskontext. Die Evaluationsergebnisse zeigen Tendenzen, welche auf eine Unterstützungsleistung und einen zu erwartenden Mehrwert in der zukunftsrobusten Weiterentwicklung von Produktportfolios hindeuten.

The advancement of the product portfolio through new products with high innovation potential is a key activity for companies to be successful in the long term. A systematic literature review is conducted to identify existing approaches and challenges from theory in the areas of strategic product planning, product portfolio management, and reference-based development. An ontology is developed as a linguistic basis for the systematic approach, and the process of advancement in corporate practice is analyzed in deeper detail in a second interview study.
Based on the analysis of the advancement of product portfolios, a descriptive model based on the model of SGE - System Generation Engineering according to ALBERS will be developed across five studies to support product portfolio modeling. The descriptive model will be initially validated in live labs and a retrospective case study. At the same time, an initial process model will be developed, which will be expanded based on findings from accompanying validation activities to support the advancement process. To be able to apply the systematic approach in a live lab, a workshop concept will be developed, applied, and refined in the IP - Integrated Product Development live lab over two years.
The systematic approach is applied in two case studies with companies for evaluation purposes and examined with regard to its applicability, support potential, and expected added value. The systematic approach is evaluated with company-related results in an interview study with two employees of the company. In a second case study, the systematic approach is applied in a company over a period of six months. To support the transfer of the systematic approach to other companies, a transfer method is developed, and the systematic approach is initially transferred to and applied in two other companies. The case studies demonstrate the applicability of the systematic approach in a corporate environment. The evaluation results show tendencies that indicate performance support and expected added value in the future-robust advancement of product portfolios.
