KITcube Doppler lidar measurements from Porspoder, NAWDIC, Level 2 wind profiles

Abstract:

Wind profiles processed from measurements of the Doppler lidar Leosphere WLS200s_125 located at Porspoder (48.50423°N, 4.77267°W, 29 m) during the NAWDIC field campaign from December 2025 to March 2026. The instrument was placed on a container with 2.59 m height. The heights and the altitude refer to the position of the instrument. From 2nd December 2025 to 24th December 2025, vertical stares were conducted, interrupted by a DBS scan in minute 29 and 59 every hour. For the wind profile calculation from 24th December 2025 onwards, RHI, PPI, DBS scans, and vertical stares are used. The scan pattern had a repeat time of ten minutes, containing four RHIs, three PPIs, two DBS scans, and 10 s of vertical stares, each. The four RHI scans were carried out in four directions (northwards, eastwards, southwards, westwards). The three PPI scans were carried out at 1°, 35.3°, and 60° elevation angle. The vertical profiles of the 3D wind vectors are calculated using AtmoProKIT v1.1 (https://doi.org/10.5194/gmd-19-2497-2026). The half-hourly wind profiles until 24th December 2025 are calculated using the simple module chain of AtmoProKIT in a temporal resolution of 1 min and a vertical resolution of 100 m. ... mehr
