Abstract:

Transformation of load patterns in households as well as decentralized generation with rooftop photovoltaic sites mainly take place in low voltage distribution grids, increasing the chance for congestion. Besides grid reinforcement, flexibility is another approach to prevent the grid from congestion. The availability of flexible power for congestion management offered by installed capacities within the grid is analyzed considering household time series of an exemplary week. Additionally, the applied method allows for analysis of demanded flexibility to prevent the grid from congestion. These two different insights allow for detailed results concerning the potential of flexibility provided by connected household loads to prevent the grid from congestion and therefore reduce conventional grid reinforcement. The results indicate the applicability of the method for calculation of availability and demand of flexible power. The considered LV grid shows little occurrence of congestion with the available flexible power depending on the installed capacity of battery storage. The results underline the ability of flexible power for congestion management. ... mehr
