Abstract:

The demand for digital transformation in Germany and a persistent shortage of software engineers present significant challenges for businesses and public institutions. Traditional solutions for enterprises, such as ERP systems, require extensive customization, which is often time-consuming and costly. Low-code platforms offer an alternative by enabling a wider range of users to create and integrate software solutions with minimal coding effort. This paper presents BRIDGE (Business-Ready Integration and Development for Generic Environments), a low-code framework designed to simplify web-based database integration using web components and RESTful web services. Our approach leverages web standards to reduce complexity, making it accessible to users with basic HTML knowledge. We extend our previous work by introducing enhanced security mechanisms, a real-time configuration wizard, and new integration capabilities that improve usability and scalability in enterprise environments. To evaluate the effectiveness of BRIDGE, we explore its application in classical and agile project management scenarios, addressing key research questions related to system integration, project workflows, and technical constraints. ... mehr
