Abstract:

Abstract (englisch):

To enable climate neutrality, the demand for both electrical energy and hydrogen is expected to increase substantially in Germany. Therefore, new transmission infrastructure is required for both energy vectors. A hybrid pipeline transmits both energy carriers efficiently, simultaneously, and compactly through the synergetic use of liquid hydrogen—serving as coolant and energy carrier—and high‑temperature superconductors. Increasingly, multiple conceptual designs and a few prototypes have demonstrated the feasibility of combined energy transmission. However, a comprehensive techno‑economic assessment of this technology is still not available. ... mehr
