Abstract:

A quadruple probe was designed for wide-bore spectrometers with four independent detectors, with sample volumes of ∼5 μl each. Four transmission-line detectors are equipped with radio frequency channels for 1H (or 19F) and 13C, which can be tuned and matched independently. Each detector is equipped with 6 on-chip shim-coils for local shimming. Linear pulsed field gradients can be applied independently to each sample along the z-axis (in the B0 direction). Slice selection allows one to reduce the effective volumes to ∼2.5 μl to improve the resolution and minimize crosstalk. Four sets of experiments can be acquired simultaneously on four different samples, for example, four inversion-recovery or four Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill experiments.
