Abstract (englisch):

This case study from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) examines methods for publishing diverse and large-scale research datasets. To overcome institutional repository limits we implemented a hybrid architecture combining a citable DOI, an accessible sample subset via a THREDDS server, and long-term secure storage. Smaller living datasets use version control and open licenses on platforms like Zenodo. Data discovery is achieved through an ATMOHub catalogue. Standardized metadata frameworks like the Helmholtz NetCDF guidelines are promoted in the Institutes of Meteorology. Dataset size dictates the publication route rather than hindering open access.
