Abstract:

We report on the first demonstration of a multi-lane erbium-doped waveguide amplifier (EDWA) in an optical transmission experiment. Our device relies on facet-attached micro-lenses (FaML) for fiber-chip coupling and offers an aggregate capacity of 29.5 Tbit/s – a record for EDWA-based communications.
