3D atom probe tomography@KNMF

Wagner, J. N.; Seils, S.; Heilmaier, M.

Abstract:

Many scientific projects are too complex to be studied with only one experimental method. To address the increasing demand of combining different characterisation and structuring methods, the Karlsruher Institute of Technology (KIT) operates the Karlsruher Nano Micro Facility (KNMF). The KNMF facilitates free access to high-end microscopy and spectroscopy techniques for scientist all over the world. In the frame of KNMF also an atom probe instrument - the LEAP 4000XHR by Cameca - was installed. APT users of KNMF will profit from a strong collaboration between APT and other high-end characterisation and structuring methods such as HRTEM, FIB and HIM. Further information may be also found on our webpage www.knmf.kit.edu. In this contribution first atom probe tomography results gained on different sample systems like compositionally complex alloys, steels or nickel-based superalloys but also from more complex systems like oxides, electro-ceramics and magnets will be presented and discussed.
