From Polymer End-Group Transformations to Tailored Biosurface Functionalization

Abstract:
The thesis presents the transformation of RAFT-polymers into hydroxyl functional polymers. Further two conjugation techniques are investigated for usability in macromolecular architecure design employing electrospray mass spectrometry. These conjugation techniques are also employed for functionalization of surfaces such as silicon wafers and cellulose sheets with (thermoresponsive and anti-bacterial) polymers using X-ray photoelectron spectroskopy and IR-microscopy to prove successful coupling.
