Electron microscopy study of pure and Sr-substituted LaCoO3

Abstract:

Two related perovskite material systems were investigated using transmission electron microscopy. La0.6Sr0.4CoO3-d was studied with emphasis on phase stability and its suitability as cathode material for solid oxide fuel cells. The high efficiency of the investigated cells is attributed to an optimized microstructure and the formation of Co3O4 precipitates during fabrication. Furthermore, the microstructure and its effect on the magnetic properties of epitaxial strained LaCoO3 were studied.
