Radical Technological Innovation: Case Study of Cryogenic Machining by 5ME

Radical technological innovations enable companies to gain exclusive market positions, but their commercialization is a very uncertain and risky undertaking. To derive the critical success factors of radical technological innovation, the current case study analyzes a concrete case in depth. In July 2013, 5ME was founded to develop and commercialize cryogenic machining. In contrast to traditional flood coolants, the cutting heat is dissipated with means of liquid nitrogen at cryogenic machining.
