Complex Helical Metamaterials fabricated via STED-inspired Laser Lithography

Kaschke, Johannes Michael

Abstract:

Helical metamaterials have been introduced as paradigm broadband circular polarizers. Due to inherent linear birefringence, circular polarization conversions occur that can either be eliminated by intertwining multiple helices in a unit cell or strongly enhanced by coupling oppositely-handed helices. To allow for fabrication of such complex designs, diffraction-unlimited STED-inspired laser lithography is used in combination with electro-chemical deposition of gold.
