Adaptation, Consolidation, and Generalization Mechanisms in Human Motor Control and Learning - Development of a methodological framework and conduction of psychophysical studies

Stockinger, Christian Dirk

Abstract:

Movements are important aspects of human life. To maintain the control and enable skilled movements, the motor system permanently needs to adapt because the system's internal and external conditions constantly change. Yet, it remains puzzling how the motor system manages these control and learning processes. The current thesis investigates motor control and learning of arm movements with special consideration of motor memory adaptation as well as its consolidation and generalization.
