Stationary Flames within Porous Inert Media

Bedoya, César

Abstract:

Porous inert media in the combustion environment intensifies heat transfer and mixing of reacting species, this lead to a combustion mode that exhibits considerably different features compared to free premixed combustion, such as considerably reduced emissions of pollutant species (NOx and CO), high emission of thermal radiation, enlargement of the flame stability range, reduction of thermo-acoustic instabilities, gradual response to operative changes and geometric flexibility of design.
