Flow field analyses within a Regenerative Flow Pump: The Power of Periodic Dynamics

Abstract (englisch): The work covers an extensive Time Resolved Stereo PIV measurement campaign within the side channel of a regenerative flow pump. Time-averaged results to understand the flow field in general, as well as phase-averaging to uncover first dynamics within the flow field are presented. Ultimately, the concept of the 'triple decomposition' of flow fields is proposed as a new approach to understand relative motions induced by the impeller of fluid machinery in form of 'Frozen periodic dynamics'.
