Abstract:

This paper presents an advanced control concept for a specialized Partial Power Converter (PPC) topology, specifically the High Efficiency Low Effort MPPT (HiLEM) circuit. A revised hardware architecture is introduced to enable a more systematic and robust control of the PPC. The results of the measurement and simulation validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy and highlight its potential for further functional enhancements. Beyond the novel control approach for the HiLEM topology, a loss-reduced operating method is also investigated. This method leverages the characteristic that identical input-side voltages can be generated at multiple operating points, thereby providing additional degrees of freedom for implementing an efficiency oriented operating strategy.
