On 15 August 2026, a wildfire erupted at the foot of the Tösberg in Schramberg (Black Forest, Germany), scorching approximately 20 hectares of forest. The fire, contained through rapid intervention by local emergency forces, highlighted Schramberg’s high wildfire risk due to its topographical setting (a valley basin surrounded by forests) and the urban-forest interface ("Californisation"), which exacerbates vulnerability to climate change-induced drought and heatwaves.
